About the role
The School of STEM-Transfer invites applications for part-time Adjunct Instructors to teach courses in the following disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Engineering Science, Geology, Information Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics. Adjunct faculty members teach contracted classes in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Courses may be taught in traditional classroom settings, virtually, or a combination. This position may include both daytime and evening class assignments and requires on-campus instruction in Utica, NY.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate classroom instruction in accordance with the learning objectives
- Develop and maintain syllabus materials
- Evaluate student performance and maintain grades, including midterm and final grades
- Respond promptly to student inquiries
- Maintain attendance records according to MVCC standards
- Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process
- Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using discretion, patience, and courtesy
Requirements
- Understanding of the college mission and teaching experience in a comprehensive community college
- Focus on student success in a learner-centered environment
- Willingness to use technology to support learning, including online instruction and assessment of student learning outcomes
- Must reside in New York State and have the ability to work on campus as required
- Successful completion of a background check
