Adjunct Instructor - Respiratory Therapy

Responsibilities

• Design and teach courses in Respiratory Therapy.
• Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
• Prepare instructional materials (course outlines, syllabi, exams, mock-ups, visual aids, and instruction sheets) as necessary.
• Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms and laboratories using appropriate teaching methods.
• Evaluate instruction and learning by means of appropriate testing methods.
• Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
• Recommend students for advancement and graduation.
• Maintain and submit accurate, up-to-date reports and records on student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
• Coordinate cooperative work experience programs and students as assigned.
• Assist counselors, department chairperson, program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
• Adhere to academic freedom and professional responsibility policies.
• Maintain safe, desirable laboratory and classroom conditions.

Requirements

• Graduated from a CoARC-accredited Bachelor’s Degree Program in Respiratory Therapy.
• Holds current, active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.
• Currently licensed as a Respiratory Therapy Practitioner in the State of Utah.

• Extensive knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
• Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in instructional assessment, curriculum design, program development, and continuous program evaluation.
• Thorough knowledge of the appropriate field of study.
• Thorough knowledge of counseling and advising techniques.
• Effective human relations skills and communication techniques.
• Skill in public speaking and report writing.
• Ability to apply general principles effectively to specific conditions.
