About the role
The College of Entertainment & the Arts seeks part-time instructors to teach general education courses fulfilling components of the Lipscomb Core: Journey Framework. These courses are open to students across all majors outside of the arts as well as CEA majors.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses including: Artistic Inquiry & Human Experience (ARTS 2303), Career Creativity, and Faith and Vocation in the Arts.
- Engage students in the dynamic relationship between the arts and broader culture, exploring storytelling, the human condition, and the power of the artistic mind.
- Equip students with skills to generate fresh, innovative ideas with commercial application in various professional arts industry disciplines.
- Experience the challenges and opportunities of being a working creative within a professional context.
- Provide timely feedback and grades to students, and work with the department chair or faculty representative in organizing the courses.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a master's degree in relevant discipline (Fine Arts, Art History, Theatre, Music, Film, or related arts field).
- Previous college teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and current developments in the academic discipline and in professional practice.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching undergraduate and adult learners.
- Ability to create a syllabus and effectively deliver the learning objectives of the course.
- Ability to advise, instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to effectively and appropriately integrate technology into the teaching and learning process.
- Ability to successfully interact with students, other educators, and educational institution representatives, and the general public in a professional manner.
