About the role

The Jewish Studies Program in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton is inviting applications for adjunct faculty in the areas of Jewish thought, religion, and culture. The Department of Philosophy seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a broad range of courses on Jewish philosophy, Jewish social and political thought, Jewish religious beliefs and practices, Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah), Jewish feminism, theories of antisemitism, Zionism, Israeli thought and culture, as well as Jewish thought and culture in Latin America, Africa, or Asia.

Requirements

  • MA in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or related fields.
  • PhD in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or related fields preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience with HSI/MSIs and/or speaking Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba is welcomed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

Pay

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and discipline, in accordance with university guidelines and available funding.
