Adjunct Instructor, Philosophy and Religion
About the role
Phillips Academy seeks an Adjunct Instructor in Philosophy and Religious Studies to teach two sections over our three trimesters from early September 2026 to June 2027. These sections include introductory-level (10th grade) sections of either 'Proof and Persuasion' or 'Faith and Doubt' throughout the year, and optionally senior electives depending on candidate interest and background.
Responsibilities
- Teach introductory-level (10th grade) sections of either 'Proof and Persuasion' or 'Faith and Doubt'
- Optionally teach senior electives based on candidate interest and background
- Review Phillips Academy’s Course of Study for course descriptions and current offerings
Requirements
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in philosophy or religious studies preferred
- At least three years’ teaching experience preferred
Qualifications
- Cultivate equitable learning experiences for all students
- Eager and willing to collaborate with departmental faculty on both teaching and student learning
Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to teach introductory and advanced courses
