Adjunct Instructor Pharmacy Technician

About the role

This is a part-time position for an industry professional who will help train students in the Pharmacy Technician Program. The instructor must ensure a positive, upbeat, diversified, interesting, and active learning environment in both classrooms and labs, providing students with relevant and worthwhile experiences daily.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and implement an effective instructional training program in a professional learning environment that guides, encourages, and enables students to develop into industry professionals.
• Teach Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacology, and Calculations, and conduct corresponding labs.
• Instruct students in accordance with classroom syllabi, curriculum, planned lab experiences, and lesson plans, providing feedback on effectiveness and alignment with industry practices to full-time instructors.
• Develop and execute active and diverse learning experiences that retain student interest while transmitting information and developing skills, emphasizing hands-on learning by doing while maintaining a structured environment compliant with the course syllabus and plan.
• Communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities.
• Prepare classrooms and labs for daily learning activities.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner.
• Observe, evaluate, and record student performance and development, providing appropriate and helpful feedback.
• Notify full-time instructors when problems develop before they become critical.
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures; involve full-time instructors as needed.
• Ensure student data is updated on a real-time basis in Northstar.
• Maintain integrity and confidentiality, especially concerning student information.
• Assure safety standards comply with all College, local, City, State, and Federal guidelines.
• Adhere to FERPA requirements and guidelines.
• Model a professional environment for students in the classroom and lab.
• Communicate consistently with the director, program personnel, and high school counselors (if applicable) to ensure the highest level of student success.
• Actively ensure the program follows all guidelines and conditions necessary to meet the standards of COE accreditation (if applicable).
• Assist with biannual Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meetings as requested (if applicable).
• Ensure students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition.
• Report all violations immediately to HR or Student Services.
• Comply with Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience required; 5+ years preferred.
• Current State Pharmacy Technician License required.
• Current National Certification required.
• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Google Suite applications.
• Strong communications and presentation skills.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less.
• The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Schedule

This position requires the employee to work between 16 and 28 hours per week, with the schedule varying based on the applicant's availability. Working hours are from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Thursday. Upon hire, the specific schedule will be established according to program needs.
