Adjunct Instructor - Percussion
Position Details
Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Percussion Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Direct the Kilgore College Percussion Ensemble
- Provide individual lessons to students at different levels of proficiency
- Work in close collaboration with the Director of Bands to provide sectionals on an as-needed basis, including during the marching band summer camp
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student
- Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance
- Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events
- Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students
Minimum Qualifications
- At least one of the following credentials from an accredited institution of higher education:
- A master’s degree in Music, with an emphasis in Percussion
- A master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in percussion
- A bachelor’s degree in music with significant teaching and performance experience
- Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting
- Experience performing at a professional level
- Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of styles and techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to inspire and motivate students
- Commitment to student success and academic excellence

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits
- Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and range from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a Master's degree, up to $2,100 per 3-hour course for a doctorate.
- Salary for private lessons and sectionals to be determined

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.
