Adjunct – Instructor of Communications/Speech

Adjunct position for in-person public speaking courses on the Dowagiac Campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:20 PM – 3:50 PM.

About the Role

Provide quality instruction for public speaking courses. Each course consists of 3 lecture hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Promote active and collaborative learning through a variety of teaching methods and relate to students.
• Prepare and deliver lessons using a master syllabus and standardized curriculum.
• Work comfortably with a diverse student population, including dual-enrolled high school students, traditional college students, and nontraditional college students.
• Grade assignments and provide timely feedback to students.
• Utilize a variety of student engagement strategies to ensure active participation.
• Use Moodle regularly for posting assignments, attendance, and grades.
• Be proficient with computer technologies, including Microsoft Office and email.
• Bring a positive, energetic, and professional attitude into the classroom.
• Be accessible to students and respond to all in-person and electronic inquiries.
• Provide the department with student performance data required for regular outcomes assessment.
• Become familiar with rules, regulations, administrative practices, guidelines, and policies of the College.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Communications or English, or a Master’s Degree with 18 credit hours of coursework in the content area.
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Demonstrated use of instructional technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching experience.
