About the Role
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of adjunct faculty to teach Communication classes. Openings for these positions may not exist at the present time; however upon review of your qualifications, you may be contacted in the future.
Responsibilities
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
- Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
- Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
- Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
- Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
- Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
- Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate as needed
- Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
- Attends professional development opportunities when possible
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Communications OR Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Communication
Skills & Knowledge
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff
- Working knowledge of MS Office products
Preferences
- Knowledge of Blackboard, an online teaching tool, is preferred
- Community College teaching experience
