Adjunct Instructor - Music Theory

Position Details

Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Music Theory Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Teach, conduct, and develop college level Music Theory courses
• Collaborate with piano and ear-training instructors in aligning a sequential program of instruction in Music at Kilgore College
• Provide individual Composition lessons to students at different levels of proficiency
• Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student
• Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities
• Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance
• Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events
• Recruit students through various initiatives including on and off-campus school, community, and event activities and visits
• Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters in Music, Music Composition, Music Theory, Music Education, or a Master’s degree or higher with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Music Theory or Music Education
• Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to inspire and motivate students
• Commitment to student success and academic excellence

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits

Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and range from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,100 per 3-hour course for a doctorate. Worker’s compensation Limited Part-Time Retirement PlanKilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.
