About the role
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department.
Responsibilities
- Teaching courses in the approved discipline
- Providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
- Mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom
- Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned
- Teach courses in face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction
- Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
- Assess student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Be available to students by appointment
- Attend adjunct faculty meetings
- Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
- Complete any required training
Requirements
- Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion
- Applicant must possess an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline
- Transcripts, certificates, and/or licenses must be submitted with application
- Five years full-time verifiable paid experience with a Law Enforcement Agency
- Submit TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer License with application
Preferred Experience
- TCOLE Instructor License
- TCOLE Firearms Instructor License
- TCOLE SFST Instructor License
- NAPD or TEEX Driving Instructor License
- Mental Health Peace Officer
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses
- Provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses
- Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory
- Communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups
- Treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity
- Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources
- Observe the stated policies and procedures of the College
