About the role

Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching courses in the approved discipline
  • Providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses
  • Mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned
  • Teach courses in face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction
  • Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner
  • Assess student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Be available to students by appointment
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels
  • Complete any required training

Requirements

  • Minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion
  • Applicant must possess an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline
  • Transcripts, certificates, and/or licenses must be submitted with application
  • Five years full-time verifiable paid experience with a Law Enforcement Agency
  • Submit TCOLE Advanced Peace Officer License with application

Preferred Experience

  • TCOLE Instructor License
  • TCOLE Firearms Instructor License
  • TCOLE SFST Instructor License
  • NAPD or TEEX Driving Instructor License
  • Mental Health Peace Officer

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses
  • Provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses
  • Create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory
  • Communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups
  • Treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity
  • Exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources
  • Observe the stated policies and procedures of the College

Special Instructions to Applicants

  • This position is designated as a security sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check
  • Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment
