Adjunct Instructor - Int'l Business Organizational Leadership

Summary Of Responsibilities

The part-time faculty member will undertake a range of responsibilities central to UVU's and the Woodbury School of Business's pedagogical philosophies.

• Instructional Design and Delivery: Comprehensive design, preparation, and delivery of engaging and effective in-person courses within the International Business discipline.
• Adherence to approved course outlines and establishment of measurable learning objectives.
• Development and continuous updating of instructional materials, including syllabi, lecture content, assignments, and assessments.
• Effective utilization of the university's course management system, such as Canvas, for facilitating learning, communication, and overall course management.

Student Engagement and Assessment

• Evaluation of student learning through various assessment methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.
• Facilitation of active and engaged learning environments.
• Conferencing with students regarding coursework, academic progress, and general academic endeavors.
• Maintenance of a welcoming and student-centered learning environment.

Administrative and Professional Duties

• Maintenance and submission of accurate and current reports and records pertaining to student accountability, attendance, and performance.
• Collaboration on department business as assigned, including participation in faculty meetings and other departmental discussions.
• Upholding professional and ethical teaching standards, along with strict adherence to University policies and procedures.
• Continuous professional improvement and maintaining currency in the courses taught and within the broader field of International Business.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

• Strong academic foundation relevant to the field of International Business, including a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration (MBA), Management, or International Business.
• Ability to teach assigned courses in-person on the Utah Valley University Orem campus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated college or university teaching experience, such as "Two years of college/university teaching experience" for lecturer roles.
• Relevant professional experience in international business.
• Familiarity with modern learning management systems, such as Canvas.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Subject matter expertise in International Business, including topics relevant to global commerce, trade, and international market dynamics.
• Instructional design principles, especially related to higher education curriculum development.
• Learning management systems (LMS), particularly Canvas, for organizing, delivering, and managing course content and student interaction.
• Assessment strategies to measure and support student learning and academic achievement.
• Awareness of pedagogical practices for diverse learning populations, especially within an integrated university/community college model.
• Teaching and classroom management, with the ability to design and deliver engaging in-person lessons aligned with defined learning objectives.
• Curriculum development, including the creation of syllabi, lectures, assignments, and assessments.
• Student engagement, utilizing active learning techniques to enhance practical understanding and application of course content.
• Communication skills, both verbal and written, for lecturing, providing feedback, and supporting student learning.
• Technological proficiency, particularly in using digital tools like Canvas for grading, communication, and instructional material management.
• Adaptability in teaching methods to meet the needs of a diverse student population, including non-traditional and career-focused learners.
• Create a student-centered classroom environment that promotes learning, participation, and academic growth.
• Evaluate and assess student performance objectively and constructively, providing timely feedback.
• Collaborate professionally with departmental faculty and staff, participating in meetings and supporting broader program goals.
