Adjunct Instructor in Theatre

About the role

The Elmira College Theatre Program is seeking adjunct instructors for the 2026-2027 academic year and beyond. The ideal candidate will have extensive professional experience in their field, an aptitude for working with young people from varied backgrounds, and a bachelor's degree. College teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses such as Stage Costume and Makeup, Playwriting, Directing, Scenic Design, Lighting Design, Musical Theatre, Theatre History, Voice and Movement, and potentially directing positions.
• Prepare and deliver lectures, provide feedback on student work, and assess student progress.
• Work with students from diverse backgrounds to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the theatre program.

Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in theatre.
• Bachelor's degree.
• College teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively with young people from varied backgrounds.
• Strong communication skills.
• Passion for theatre education.

Skills

• Proficiency in theatre techniques and technologies.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
