About the Role

The Adjunct Instructor I is responsible for providing high-level instruction to armed professionals and responsible citizens. This role involves teaching basic, intermediate, and advanced level courses, as well as Instructor level courses, based on previous experience or qualifications. The position requires Instructor level experience, strong firearms skills, and collaboration with internal teams and the SIG SAUER customer base.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert instruction of designated courses with a specific focus on specialty courses as assigned using current approved lesson plans.
  • Meet established course objectives and timelines on assigned training courses and support events.
  • Provide an optimal training environment in the classroom and on the range, utilizing SIG SAUER Academy instructional methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Leverage background and experience to assist and grow the Academy’s capabilities.
  • Coach SIG SAUER students to achieve success in class.
  • Represent SIG SAUER during events, conferences, trade shows, commercial sales events, and other public interactions.
  • Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally up to two (2) weeks per month.
  • Communicate effectively to leadership regarding problems and corrective action.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Participate in 5S workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
  • Follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of instructor level experience in providing training in safe handling, manipulation, and implementation of firearms (preferred).
  • Law enforcement or military instructor level experience (preferred).
  • Expert knowledge of weapons, tactics, and the proper handling and use of a wide variety of firearms including handguns, rifles, shotguns, and automatic weapons.
  • Prior Armorer experience is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of firearms safety practices and procedures in any environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and adapt quickly to changes.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily standing (90%+ of the shift) except for breaks and lunch periods.
  • Duties typically require exposure to a shooting range with frequent standing, kneeling, running, sitting, crouching, crawling, twisting, grasping, and walking.
  • Frequent lifting up to 40 pounds and/or moving equipment cases and materials up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently (minimum 50% of the shift), and undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, including gripping, reaching, pulling, and turning.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and ability to focus.
  • Exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions, including extreme cold and warm weather for extended periods.
  • Exposure to firearms, related chemicals, gun cleaning solvents, ammunition, explosive materials, ammunition smoke, and hand/power tools for weapon and range repairs.
  • Exposure to extreme noise from firearms, requiring the use of ear protection equipment.
  • Must possess mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where mandated.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
