Job Requirements
Supervisors are expected to:
- Supervise structured literacy instruction during the standard program day
- Observe and provide instructional feedback to supervised instructors
- Evaluate instructor performance
- Maintain accurate records and communicate with Marquette faculty about instructor performance
- Remain current with new trends and developments in literacy
- Under the direction of the Director of the Hartman Literacy and Learning Center:
- Observe, coach, and instruct reading instructors in the summer program
- Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning reading instructor and/or pre-service educator accountability, attendance, and performance
- Maintain regular communication with Marquette faculty and administrators about reading instructor and/or pre-service educator performance
- Demonstrate a student-oriented approach to education
- Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.
- Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree and Reading Teacher License (316).
- At least three years of K-12 teaching experience.
- Experience in supervision and coaching of teachers.
- Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.
- Recent experience working in diverse, urban schools.
- Extensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter, including current instructional and assessment strategies and techniques.
- Current knowledge of and experience in teacher preparation and/or professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with people, particularly university students, colleagues, administrators, and K-12 school personnel and students.
