About the role
Broward College is seeking instructors for the Uniquely Abled Academy (UAA) to provide customized training and instruction for future manufacturing employees, focusing on neurodivergent populations.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate mastery of specific discipline and technology competencies.
- Facilitate learning for adult learners, particularly those with neurodivergence.
- Teach subjects such as Blueprint Reading, GD&T, Inspection and Measurement, Metrology, and Metallurgy for the Machine Trades.
- Operate and program CNC machines and teach lean manufacturing principles.
- Prepare students for productive lives through industry-relevant training.
- Teach in both traditional face-to-face and blended (hybrid) formats.
- Provide office hours and potentially evening/weekend hours.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Technology: Drafting, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 18 graduate credit hours in relevant field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.
- 3 years’ work experience in engineering field.
- Appropriate industry certifications or licenses.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Commitment to teaching.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of Haas and/or Fanuc controllers.
- National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials.
- Experience with Online Tooling U resources.
- Experience with Neurodivergent populations.
Benefits
Salary range: $2,181.00 - $2,386.02 (Salary commensurate with education and experience).
