Adjunct Instructor - Criminal Justice
About the role
The College of Business at Ferris State University seeks a lead instructor teaching precision driving course in accordance with MCOLES guidelines. Will supervise and assist part time professional staff with all training maneuvers. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State sites.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and assist precision driving course following MCOLES guidelines, rules and regulations.
- Supervise and assist training maneuvers for Criminal Justice Law Enforcement students.
- Maintain regularly posted office hours (scheduled at times convenient for students).
- Participate in traditional functions of academic significance (e.g., reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time).
- Teach off-campus or in an online environment.
- Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
- Operate a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities.
- Authorize, pursuant to university policies and procedures, a driving record check, and meet the driving authorization requirements through the course of employment in a position where you are authorized to drive a vehicle as part of our duties.
- Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Requirements
- Master's degree in criminal justice, criminal justice administration, police science, law enforcement, public administration, corrections, correctional rehabilitation, criminology, criminal psychology, forensic science, or sociology with a criminal justice focus.
- OR a bachelor's degree in one of the previous fields AND 5 years of documented related field experience approved by department faculty.
- Must be MCOLES approved.
- Must be certified as a police emergency operations driving instructor.
- Minimum of five years of police experience in the United States.
- Minimum of two years as a driving instructor at a police academy or an in-service training class.
- Must have completed a recognized Police Precision Instructor Driving Program.
- Must have a valid United States Driver's License.

Pay
Minimum of $1,353 per credit hour, if advanced degree held in primary academic discipline the minimum rate increases to $1,458 per hour. Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement.
