The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Advising Office seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct Instructor pool and welcomes applications at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters.

About the role

The UCRS 2100 Career Development course is taught by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and is designed to be interdisciplinary and applicable to any degree program.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the UCRS 2100 Career Development course
  • Assist students in defining, clarifying, and achieving academic and personal goals
  • Work with students to develop career plans and explore career options
  • Provide guidance on resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies
  • Use career development theories and tools such as MBTI, Strong Interest Inventory, and marketability of majors
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and stay updated on industry trends and best practices

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, or a related field with coursework in the career-related field
  • 3 years working directly with college students including 1 year academic counseling experience and 1 semester teaching experience
  • Areas of expertise should include career development theory, MBTI, assessment, Strong interest inventory, and marketability of a major
  • Licensure or teacher certification is preferred, but not required

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills to interact with students and faculty
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Experience with technology and online platforms for student services
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of career development theories and tools
  • Ability to adapt to changing student needs and preferences
