Essential Duties
- Design course activities in alignment with course objectives that allow opportunities for college students to demonstrate stated student learning outcomes.
- Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity.
- Encourage problem solving using discipline-specific strategies.
- Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to assess course and program-level student learning outcomes.
- Build capacity for students to achieve their academic and professional goals.
- Foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling responsive reciprocal interactions, and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
- Maintain and submit student grades and other documentation required by the institution.
- Collaborate with colleagues on discipline-specific pedagogical and assessment practices to support student learning and meet accreditation requirements.
- Hold one hour of student conference time per week for every course section taught.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree or higher in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Teaching, Education, or a degree in a related field, required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with a diverse group of staff and students, required.
- Knowledge of Brightspace Learning Management System or similar Learning Management System, preferred.
- Prior experience with remote teaching via Zoom, preferred.
- Completed online teaching certification, preferred.
- Experience with a diverse, multilingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.
