About the Role

Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach in the Baking and Pastry Arts Department. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis at various locations.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional class period
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Attends professional development opportunities when possible

Requirements

  • Requires an Associate's Degree in the teaching discipline
  • Unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience (preferred)
  • 3 - 5 years of industry experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree in the teaching discipline (preferred)

  • Ability to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
  • Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others
  • Ability to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently
  • Maintains a safe, collaborative, and respectful working environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge and familiarity with technology and software including computers and web-based resources such as Blackboard
  • Ability to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential
