Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as-needed basis.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses.
  • Mentor students inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Create and maintain an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit instruction).
  • Maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
  • Provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner.
  • Assess student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior.
  • Be available to students by appointment.
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings.
  • Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels.
  • Complete any required training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Earned Master’s degree in Education or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline (transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application).
  • Valid Texas teacher licensure and certification.
  • Minimum of three years of public teaching experience with students in early childhood through 6th grade.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Education courses at the college level.

  • Ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses.
  • Ability to provide instruction that achieves the specific goals and objectives associated with assigned courses.
  • Ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory.
  • Strong communication skills with students, college personnel, administration, peers, and public groups.
  • Ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice, without discrimination.
  • Highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources.
  • Ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.

This position is designated as security-sensitive and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check. Males between the ages of 18 through 25 must be properly registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
