Adjunct Instructor- Advertising & Graphic Design/Visual Arts
Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Adjunct Instructor to teach Digital Media and Animation courses in its Visual Arts/Graphic Design program. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students from diverse backgrounds while fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach one or more Digital Media and Animation courses (e.g., 2D/3D animation, motion graphics, digital illustration, character design, video production, or related coursework).
- Instruct students in specific areas and evaluate their learning progress.
- Keep abreast of developments in the discipline, industry software, and instructional methodology, including current animation, design, and production tools.
- Support and participate in appropriate professional development programs and activities.
- Support and adhere to the academic policies and procedures of the college, the division, and the department.
- Interpret college policies for students in a positive manner.
- Develop, maintain, and follow syllabi for courses.
- Participate with appropriate administration in the development of guidelines for classroom management.
- Communicate with the appropriate chair and/or dean as to the need for instructional materials, equipment, and professional development.
- Maintain a harmonious and collegial relationship with other members of the faculty and staff.
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
- Administer student appraisals of courses in compliance with college policy.
- Attend necessary conferences and seminars to remain current in the field.
- Teach in afternoons and/or evenings (non-peak times); teach dual credit classes in high schools; develop and teach web classes; develop and teach hybrid or remote classes; and use instructional technology in the classroom.
- Complete online course certification through the KC Faculty Innovation Center within their first year of employment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree or higher with a minimum of eighteen graduate hours in Arts is required.
- Professional experience in animation, digital media production, motion graphics, or a related creative discipline.
- Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Premiere), Autodesk Maya, Blender, Toon Boom, or comparable tools.
- Preference will be given to applicants with college teaching experience.
- Proficient in the use of technology, have a mastery of Visual Arts, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at the college level.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a typical classroom/instructional lab environment and get along in a courteous and professional manner with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to handle high levels of stress.

Pay
Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and ranges from $1,900 per 3-hour course for a master's degree to $2,100 per 3-hour course for a doctorate.
Schedule
- Teaching may include afternoons, evenings, dual credit classes in high schools, web classes, and hybrid or remote classes.
All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work-from-home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some part-time and adjunct positions may be offsite, but the candidate must live in the State of Texas.
