Adjunct, Information Technology - School of Tech/Trades

Frederick Community College (FCC) is seeking dynamic and knowledgeable adjunct instructors to teach hybrid courses in information technology and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in hybrid formats (in-person and online).
• Teach courses aligned with industry certifications such as CompTIA and EC-Council.
• Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments in accordance with program standards and learning outcomes.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic progress.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with workforce needs.
• Stay current with industry trends, certification updates, and instructional best practices.
• Participate in adjunct faculty meetings, training sessions, and professional development as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or minimum four years of additional related experience.
• Valid and current certifications in at least two of the following:
  • CompTIA Tech+
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA CySA+ (preferred)
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) (preferred)
• Prior teaching or training experience, preferably in a community college or adult education setting.
• Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the desired area.
• Two-year teaching experience with adult learners.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Blackboard learning management systems.
• Experience in a higher educational environment.
• Exposure to current educational practices for student learning.
• Ability to learn and remain current about workforce development.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced atmosphere.
• Ability to use varying styles, approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multi-cultural workplace.

Schedule

• Part-time position requiring availability for Saturday sessions and evening classes during the week.
• Combination of in-person and online instruction.
