About the Role

Kirkwood Community College seeks a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our faculty to teach Industrial Math in-person at our Washington County Regional Center (Washington, IA) campus location. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base in their discipline, and teaching experience at the college level is desirable. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

Fall Semester – October 19, 2026 – December 2, 2026
Monday/Wednesday – 7:45 am – 10:10 am
Face-to-face section at Washington County Regional Center

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in discipline in a face-to-face course format.
  • Work with other faculty members to develop a course syllabus and consistent assessments.
  • Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
  • Regularly log in to Kirkwood Learning Management System.
  • Perform other related work duties as assigned.

  • Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
  • Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.

Physical Activities (With/Without Reasonable Accommodation)

  • Occasional (10-33%): standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
  • Frequent (34-66%): reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work.
  • Constant (67-100%): sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking, and hearing.

Requirements

  • 6000 hours of industry experience using applied math in the automotive industry, OR
  • 3000 hours of industry experience using applied math in the automotive industry AND an associate’s degree in automotive technology or related field, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject with at least 12 credit hours of math coursework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience.
