Adjunct Faculty, Wilderness First Aid

About the Role

Adjunct faculty members at Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing available staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. The role emphasizes facilitating learning across communities, with teaching as the primary responsibility. Faculty are also encouraged to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities to support student success. The college focuses on excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs, prioritizing dynamic classroom experiences and strong academic outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses and evaluate student learning.
• Develop and submit course outlines, syllabi, and measurable objectives.
• Maintain accurate course records and complete required forms.
• Hold office hours and provide student consultation.
• Assist with advising, orientation, registration, and student recruitment.
• Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance discipline expertise.
• Participate in service activities, including campus committees, assessment, program review, and mentoring peers.
• Represent the college professionally in the community.
• Engage in professional development for credentialing.
• Adhere to college policies, including timely submission of grades.
• May supervise student employees.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in the specific field of the position or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, or marketing for business roles).
• Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience or equivalent adjunct experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.
• Strong background in computers, technology, and pedagogy.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, research, analyze data, and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of diverse backgrounds.
• Must perform assigned duties within the State of Colorado and accurately report work location.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Skills

• Proficiency in pedagogy and teaching methodologies.
• Experience with educational technologies and general office skills (filing, typing, customer service).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Special Conditions

• Successful completion of a background check and motor vehicle records report (if applicable).
• Adherence to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College.
• May require travel and evening/weekend hours.
• Position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee.

Working Conditions

• Constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving.
• Occasional handling of objects, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent use of computers, office equipment, and finger movements.
• Constant written and oral communication; occasional analytical and calculation tasks.
