Location: Gulf Park, 730 East Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, Mississippi, 39560, United States. Part-time position; applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

About the role

Adjunct faculty members within the School of Leadership facilitate student achievement of course objectives consistent with academic program requirements and prepare both undergraduate and graduate students to matriculate through the following programs:

  • Accounting (BSBA) – AACSB-accredited program providing students with the foundation for a successful accounting career and internship opportunities with leading firms. Classes may be online or in-person.
  • Applied Technology (BAS) – Offers a pathway for two-year career technical and/or military transfer students to expand leadership skills beyond technical competencies. Fully online.
  • Business Administration (BSBA & MBA) – Provides functional knowledge in accounting, finance, management, and marketing for business, non-profit, and government settings. Both degrees available online or in-person.
  • Human Capital Development (MS & PhD) – Prepares scholar-practitioners in human capital analytics, performance interventions, change leadership, and strategic planning. MS fully online; PhD in executive format.
  • Industrial Engineering Technology (BS) – Focuses on industrial systems design, integration, and management using analytical tools to improve productivity. Fully online.
  • Industrial Engineering Technology in Logistics (BS) – Integrates industrial engineering technology with logistics and supply chain management. Fully online.
  • Instructional Technology and Design (MS & PhD Emphasis; Graduate Certificate) – Applies instructional design processes for learning and development solutions. Fully online.
  • Logistics, Trade, and Transportation (MS) – Teaches systematic approaches to logistics, trade, and transportation with supply chain strategies. Fully online.
  • Organizational Leadership (BSBA) – Prepares students for the Blue Economy with skills in business, leadership, human capital development, logistics, decision analytics, and strategic marketing. Classes offered online and in-person.

Responsibilities

  • Online and/or face-to-face course delivery and instruction.
  • Prepare and submit syllabi, grades, and other required course documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate course requirements and expectations to students.
  • Follow policies and procedures of the School of Leadership, College of Business and Economic Development, and The University of Southern Mississippi.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a discipline related to the assigned course of instruction.
  • Earned 18 graduate hours or significant, documented work experience in the teaching field (e.g., MGT, ACC, FIN, MKT).
  • Ability to deliver accurate, concise, and quality communication (verbal and written) in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty in the unit.
  • Proficiency in navigating and using learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and other technological communications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Proficiency in teaching strategies and techniques for all student populations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching, mentoring, and service experience at the university level.
  • Experience with online course delivery and instruction.
  • Professional experience in the field related to assigned course of instruction.
  • Experience with the Canvas learning platform.
  • Doctoral degree in a related discipline.
