Adjunct Faculty Position - Occupational Therapy - Oklahoma Baptist University

About the Role

Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) is seeking applicants for adjunct faculty appointments in its new hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. This 2-year accelerated program combines online and on-campus teaching, allowing adjunct faculty to perform most work remotely. Lab-based courses require travel to the OBU campus in Shawnee, OK, at various times throughout the year. The start date for this position varies (Fall 2025, Spring 2026, Summer 2026, or Fall 2026).

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of new hybrid-format courses.
• Create and conduct in-person lab immersions and experiential learning opportunities aligned with the program’s curriculum.
• Engage in asynchronous and synchronous classroom activities, including leading synchronous sessions.
• Maintain a minimum of 2 hours of office hours per week for student needs.
• Participate in faculty meetings as appropriate during the term of teaching.
• Contribute to the accreditation process and serve on program committees as needed.

Requirements

Education & Licensure

• Occupational therapy degree (MOT, MSOT, etc.) from an ACOTE-accredited program.
• Current, valid, non-restricted occupational therapy license.
• Oklahoma (OK) state occupational therapy license or eligibility for licensure in OK.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as an occupational therapy practitioner.
• Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in occupational therapy or a similar higher education program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Earned doctoral degree or progress toward one (OTD, EdD, PhD, ScD, etc.) from an accredited program.
• Clinical experience in neurological conditions, psychosocial conditions, pediatrics, geriatrics, musculoskeletal conditions, physical impairments/disabilities, orthotics, physical agent modalities, health and wellness, and/or use of technologies in OT practice.
• Advanced certifications, specializations, and/or credentials in the field of practice.
• Knowledge of innovative teaching strategies in education.
• Teaching experience in a hybrid format.
• Hybrid/Online Teaching Certification.
• Excellent communication skills and strong computer skills for hybrid instruction.
• Competence in integrating technology within the classroom and building student-centered online learning communities.

Technical Skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook) and Zoom or similar online meeting platforms.
• Experience with online learning management software (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).

Physical Requirements

• Strength, range of motion, and fine/gross motor coordination to demonstrate mobility, self-care, assessments, and interventions.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, and reaching.
• Push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance if needed.
• Tolerate 3–4 hours of continuous activity with minimal breaks and full 8–10 hour days with rest breaks for hands-on lab immersions.

Special Requirements

• Must be a member of a local evangelical Christian church. Evangelical refers to a segment within Christianity that maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
