Located in the heart of Chicago, across the street from historic Grant Park, the college is housed in some of the most iconic buildings in the South Loop.
About the Role
Columbia College Chicago hires adjunct faculty to teach courses on a part-time basis. Positions are contingent upon student enrollment and the availability of funding and are not available every semester.
The School of Communication and Culture offers courses in Journalism and Communication, Creative Writing, US and global culture, literature, and history, with emphases in African American Studies, Black World Studies, Latine Studies, and Feminist, Gender, and LGBTQAI+ Studies. The school also supports the first-year writing curriculum and provides courses in American Sign Language, Philosophy, Podcasting, Psychology, Audio Narrative, and Voiceover.
Qualifications
- Degree at least one level above the level at which you teach (terminal degree in the relevant discipline preferred).
- In terminal degree programs, faculty must possess the same level of degree.
- For non-general education courses, demonstrated currency in a specialized discipline and a sustained history of distinguished professional work, compelling creative achievements, or other significant experience in the relevant field may occasionally substitute for the required degree.
Pay
Entry-level compensation for teaching one 3-credit course is $5,635.00 (as of Fall 2026). Compensation for courses carrying fewer or more than three credits will be prorated accordingly.

This is a part-time, union position and is overtime ineligible. A background screening is required.
