About the role

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Washington State University (WSU) Tri-Cities seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach in-person course offerings throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. Courses cover over 15 disciplines including Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Astronomy.

Responsibilities

  • Teach fully in-person courses in various disciplines within the Physical Sciences.
  • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues in both written and verbal formats.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate a diverse student population.
  • Use a broad range of learning resources and technologies.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated experience or potential for teaching with student-centered pedagogy.
  • One-year experience teaching college courses in relevant areas.

Qualifications

  • Terminal Degree/Ph.D. in relevant field preferred.
  • Ability to use new teaching approaches that advance pedagogy of the discipline.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Demonstrated record of successful teaching across a range of student demographics.

Skills

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse student populations.
  • Knowledge of current teaching approaches and technologies.

Pay

Annual Salary: $25,952.40 - $47,047.50 (100% FTE). Salary to be pro-rated based upon course credits and type of instruction.

Schedule

The adjunct faculty appointment contains no guarantee of continued employment beyond the semester course assignment or any assigned hourly or substitute work assignments. Teaching is fully in person, with flexibility in scheduling.

Additional Information

This is a part-time, fixed term position. This position is NOT eligible for overtime. It works on-site/in-person at the WSU Tri-Cities campus in Richland, WA.
