Purpose

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). About the Role

PVCC seeks an innovative and collaborative individual to join the faculty as an adjunct instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program. The successful candidate will teach a maximum of 12 credits per semester (fall/spring), which could include day, evening and weekend, off-campus, or distance education courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends. Primarily face-to-face with the possibility of remote instruction.
  • Deliver instruction in the classroom, online, and in lab environments.
  • Write syllabi and exams.
  • Develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Work effectively as a team member to ensure that departmental goals are met.
  • Work in a virtual environment using multiple software programs simultaneously including MS Office programs, Canvas, Gmail, Zoom, etc.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma; Associate degree in a health-related field preferred
  • PTCB Certification required
  • Five or more years pharmacy technician experience (sterile compounding a plus)
  • Ability to deliver instruction in the classroom, online, and in lab environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in both an individual and group setting
  • Work effectively as a team member to ensure that departmental goals are met
  • Ability to work in a virtual environment using multiple software programs simultaneously including MS Office programs, Canvas, Gmail, Zoom, etc.

Additional Considerations

  • Pharmacy Technician training experience
  • Community College or training program teaching experience

Schedule

Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends. Primarily face-to-face with the possibility of remote instruction.
