About the Role

WSU Tech is seeking an Adjunct Faculty, Patient Care Technician to provide classroom and hands-on instruction in patient care skills. This position will support students preparing for careers in healthcare, with an emphasis on phlebotomy and EKG. The ideal candidate brings current healthcare experience and a passion for helping students develop the technical knowledge, hands-on skills, and professional behaviors needed to succeed in the healthcare field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom and hands-on instruction related to patient care, phlebotomy, and EKG procedures
  • Demonstrate proper techniques, equipment use, safety practices, and infection-control procedures
  • Create an engaging learning environment that supports students with varying levels of experience
  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, skills demonstrations, exams, and other assessments
  • Provide students with timely, constructive feedback to support their academic and professional development
  • Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, and other required records
  • Ensure instruction and laboratory activities align with program requirements, industry standards, and applicable healthcare practices
  • Promote professionalism, patient safety, confidentiality, and ethical behavior in the learning environment
  • Maintain current knowledge of healthcare practices, technology, and industry expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Current or recent professional experience in healthcare, phlebotomy, EKG, patient care, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience with phlebotomy and/or EKG procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical and clinical concepts to students
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching, training, or mentoring experience
  • Experience working with students or adult learners in a classroom or laboratory setting
  • Current industry credentials or certifications related to phlebotomy, EKG, patient care, or another relevant healthcare field
  • Experience in a clinical healthcare environment

Work Environment

This position may include classroom, laboratory, and hands-on instructional activities. The adjunct faculty member will work directly with students to develop practical skills and prepare them for employment in healthcare settings.
