Duties

  • Teach English courses – Conversation, Grammar, Reading and Writing for learners whose first language is not English.
  • The special population would include those who want to improve their English Proficiency for academic, career, or learn the language for basic everyday use.
  • Prepare course outline and syllabus in accordance with guidelines, develop, course and lesson plans, and engage in the selection of textbooks and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of courses.
  • Evaluate student performance.
  • Able to work with students from other cultures and being sensitive to their learning needs.
  • Possess a positive and welcoming attitude towards students and be able to create a vibrant learning environment.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organize weekly co-curricular events for students: excursions, field trips, etc. in the DC area.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in from an accredited college or university is required.
  • One year of teaching or tutoring experience and ESL certification (TESOL or TEFL) is preferred.
