Adjunct Faculty position in the Political Science department at East Texas A&M University, located in Commerce, Texas.

About the Role

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Manage online courses.
  • Teach courses via online live lecture to paralegal students.
  • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
  • Plan and create lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist and mentor students as needed.
  • Attend online paralegal program faculty meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Three years of experience practicing law.
  • Previous experience working with paralegals or legal assistants.
  • Licensed by a state bar.

Skills

  • Knowledgeable and current in the subject matter of assigned courses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to facilitate instruction and student engagement.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to learn online platforms and conduct virtual meetings with students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior college, university, or other teaching experience related to the legal field.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Online or hybrid teaching experience.
