About the Role
Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE's online programs. The role involves facilitating the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors serve as mentors, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. Faculty create a positive educational environment to support student retention and maximize program benefits. Supervision, collaboration, and guidance are provided by the UNE Online Science Prerequisites for the Health Professions (SPHP) Program.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert and graduate-level knowledge in Organic Chemistry II
- Guide students through their educational experience while upholding the CPS commitment to student success
- Respond to student inquiries within 24 hours
- Engage in the online course portal a minimum of 5 times per week
- Host a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week
- Demonstrate excellent collaborative and communication skills
- Analyze and apply best practices in online Organic Chemistry education
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry (or similar) – PhD preferred
- Minimum of three years teaching experience in Organic Chemistry
- Experience teaching online and willingness to learn and apply new technological approaches to education
- Desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings
- Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management System preferred
