Texas A&M University—San Antonio is seeking a part-time Adjunct Instructor of Psychology for the Department of Health and Behavioral Sciences. Appointment begins in Fall 2026.

About the Role

Potential courses include Research Methods and Statistics, Writing for Psychology, The Psychology Major, and other courses as needs arise. Continuation depends on course availability. Courses may be offered days, evenings, or weekends, based on departmental need, with most courses delivered in person.

The university is implementing evidence-driven teaching and learning practices, including experiential learning, to enhance student persistence and college completion. Faculty are expected to contribute to this vision through innovation and experimentation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned psychology courses in alignment with departmental needs.
  • Engage in evidence-driven teaching practices, including experiential learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success.
  • Adapt to teaching in a multicultural and non-traditional commuter university setting.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Broad training in psychology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
  • Experience serving as an instructor of record at the college/university level.
  • Experience teaching at a multicultural university.
  • Experience teaching in a non-traditional commuter university setting.
  • Ability to teach a range of courses in psychology.

Skills

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Ability to interact with students from multicultural backgrounds.

Application Process

Finalists will be required to provide three current, original letters of recommendation (less than one year old) sent directly from the recommender. Prior to issuing a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution. If transcripts are from an international institution, the candidate must arrange for translation and evaluation by an approved credential evaluator.
