About the role
Cecil College is a community college founded in 1968, serving Cecil County residents. The College is governed by a Board of Trustees and is centrally located near Interstate 95.
Responsibilities
- Convey course material to achieve instructional objectives.
- Complete course assessments as requested by the Department Chairperson.
- Ensure course materials are available to students on the first day of class.
- Meet program-specific requirements for employment and supervision of students in externships or capstone courses.
- Teach for the full amount of time specified and notify the Academic Affairs Office if there is an urgent reason to miss class.
- Be reasonably accessible to students via email or in person, return assignments in a timely manner.
- Hold office hours before or after class, a minimum of 30 minutes per week. Advising modality should match teaching modality.
- Facilitate quality learning experiences for students.
- Create and implement classroom lesson plans and learning activities, including lectures, videos, demonstrations, and role-play.
- Teach specific hours or contact hours per week as assigned.
- Assist with student remediation.
- Use the College’s Academic Monitoring and Learning Management System to document attendance and grades per Cecil College procedures. Submit grades and all other end-of-semester documentation in a timely manner.
- Use the College email account for College communications and check the account daily.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degree preferred.
- Current, unencumbered RN license.
- A minimum of five full-time years working as a registered nurse in the content area. Teaching and simulation experience preferred.
- Knowledge of equipment and functions used in clinical settings.
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
- Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
Qualifications
Employees of Cecil College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia.
