Adjunct Faculty – Mechanical Engineering
Major Responsibilities
- Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
- Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
- Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with college policies, guidelines and expectations.
- Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in engineering; or master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Mechanical Engineering.
- All educational degrees must be from a regional accredited institution.
- Possesses passion for teaching in engineering.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Familiarity with distance learning and willingness to use technology tools in instruction.
- Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction.
- Ability to work well with students and colleagues in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum two (2) years college teaching experience.
- Minimum two (2) years related industrial experience.
- Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction.
