Adjunct Faculty - Machining

About the Role

Engage students in the teaching and learning process, work assigned schedule, and perform related duties. This position involves teaching Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology courses in both traditional and web-based formats, along with meeting College service expectations.

Potential subject matter includes:

• Machining Processes
• Advanced Machining
• CNC
• Advanced CNC Mills and Lathes
• Hydraulics and Pneumatics
• Mechanical Power Transmission

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach courses that fulfill curriculum goals and program learning objectives.
• Remain current with subject matter and instructional methodology.
• Maintain classroom hours in accordance with departmental and College policies.
• Use appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
• Communicate progress in the course to students in a timely manner.
• Determine and submit students' grades in accordance with established College policies and procedures.
• Support the mission of the program, division, and College.

Requirements

• A.A.S. Degree in Machining/Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred but not required.
• Journeyman card and/or other industry certifications preferred but not required.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in machining, manufacturing, mechanical systems, or skilled trades.

• Ability to work a combination of day and evening schedules.
• Effective communication in one-on-one, small group, and classroom settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to student success and enhancing teaching and learning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, presentation software, internet, and email.
• Experience with learning management systems.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students.
• Capability to teach in more than one discipline.
• Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills.
