About the role
This position requires teaching an introduction to computers course covering topics such as popular productivity software, operating systems, file/folder management, basic hardware and networking concepts, computer security, email/Internet/web usage, and ethics, privacy, and etiquette issues.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the best scholarly and ethical standards of the discipline.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching strategies.
- Foster honest academic conduct and evaluate students fairly.
- Show respect for students and create a respectful learning environment.
- Demonstrate mastery of course material and prepare thoroughly for classes.
- Teach according to the course description and departmental policies.
- Be available for student consultations and provide guidance.
- Grade assignments and return them promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and participate in course evaluations.
- Create and distribute an effective course syllabus and adhere to it.
- Recommend and utilize college support services for students.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Behave professionally and notify the Associate Dean of absences.
- Assess student learning and report results.
Requirements
- Earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Business, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or a computer-related field with minimum two years industry experience required.
- Or, earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in another discipline with a minimum of five years industry experience required.
- Or, earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in another discipline with relevant certifications required.
- Or, earned Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution with at least ten (10) years of industry experience relevant to the course required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
