About the Role
Henry Ford College is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member for the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. This role prepares individuals for employment as entry-level Physical Therapist Assistants through classroom, laboratory instruction, and student assessment.
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)
- Minimum of one year of practice experience
- Earned Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a regionally-accredited institution
Responsibilities
- Teach the specific knowledge base and technical skills required for students to provide care as entry-level Physical Therapist Assistants
- Instruct on professional behaviors, legal standards, and ethical standards established by the American Physical Therapy Association for Physical Therapist Assistants
- Participate in professional development activities to implement effective teaching strategies that foster student learning
- Foster honest academic conduct and ensure evaluations reflect each student’s performance
- Demonstrate respect for students as individuals and maintain a respectful classroom or online learning environment
- Treat all students fairly without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, weight, height, marital status, familial status, protected disability, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or any other protected status
- Demonstrate mastery of course material and come prepared to teach each lesson
- Teach courses in accordance with the Course Master and Department policies
- Be available for student consultations and provide guidance to promote student learning and success
- Meet all scheduled classes, final examinations, check-offs, and grading deadlines
- Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and submit required reports on time
- Develop and distribute an effective course syllabus following College policies and participate in the College course evaluation process
- Attend scheduled staff meetings and behave professionally to maintain a scholarly atmosphere
- Notify the Associate Dean if unable to meet a scheduled class session and schedule personal vacations to coincide with College breaks
- Perform, analyze, and report assessment of student learning
