Duties/Responsibilities

  • Teaching (60%): Delivering in-class instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:10-3:30
  • Office Hours (20%): Offering 1-2 hours per week of office hours for students to meet outside of class time.
  • Misc administrative (10%): This position must handle the administrative work associated with the course, including: Syllabus preparation, coordinating books/reading materials with the bookstore, maintaining Canvas, grading, responding to email queries from students, Department faculty and staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience: Master’s degree and 2 years of professional experience. ABD or PhD in a related discipline.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Candidate must be able to teach about American Congress and possess a broader knowledge of American government and political institutions. Candidate must be comfortable interacting with students of varying backgrounds and abilities, and be able to provide appropriate guidance and support regarding coursework. Prior teaching experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ABD or PhD in Political Science or a related discipline.
  • Teaching certification and/or experience, particularly advanced high school or college students.
