About the Role
Adjunct Faculty position in the Health, Education, and Human Services Department to teach course AH 132: Intro to Healthcare Professions. This course introduces students to various healthcare professions, covering skills and topics common to all healthcare providers such as ethical and legal issues, professionalism, cultural considerations, vital signs, body mechanics, communication, infection control, and evidence-based practice. The course also includes key elements in the formation and modification of medical terms and features a hands-on lab component.
Requirements
- Earned Associate's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution (required).
- Current certification, registration, and/or Michigan license in a healthcare profession with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in a healthcare profession (required).
- Bachelor's degree (preferred).
Responsibilities

- Participate in professional development activities to implement effective teaching strategies that foster student learning.
- Foster honest academic conduct and ensure evaluations reflect student performance.
- Demonstrate respect for students as individuals and maintain a respectful classroom or online learning environment.
- Treat all students fairly without regard to protected characteristics such as race, religion, sex, disability, or sexual orientation.
- Demonstrate mastery of course material and prepare all instructional materials before class.
- Teach courses in accordance with the Course Master and Department policies.
- Make yourself available for student consultations to promote learning and success.
- Meet all scheduled classes and final examinations as assigned.
- Grade and return student work in a timely manner.
- Maintain records of attendance, grades, and submit required reports by deadlines.
- Develop and distribute a course syllabus following College guidelines and adhere to it throughout the semester.
- Participate in the College’s course evaluation process.
- Inform students of College support services and recommend their use when advisable.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings when possible.
- Maintain a professional and scholarly atmosphere in interactions with students and staff.
- Perform, analyze, and report assessment of student learning.
- Cooperate with the College community to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and processes established by the program, department, and College.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
