Adjunct Faculty - Early Childhood Education

About the role

Northern Essex Community College (NECC) seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach ECE271, Early Childhood Education Practicum 1, in Spanish for Fall 2026. The course meets in person on Monday evenings from 6:00–8:00 pm at the Lawrence campus (45 Franklin Street) and requires daytime availability for on-site observations at local early education settings. The instructor will deliver Practicum 1 content, grade assignments, conduct observations of student teachers, and meet with site supervisors to review progress.

The required in-person Monday evening sessions are scheduled for:

• September 14 & 21
• October 5 & 19
• November 2, 16, & 30
• December 7

This position reports to the Dean of Business and Professional Studies.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in accordance with the Academic Catalog description and established departmental student learning outcomes.
• Communicate fluently in Spanish (written and verbal) to instruct, engage, and support students.
• Adhere to NECC policies and MCCC contract requirements, including grading policies, deadlines, evaluation processes, and syllabus requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Prior teaching experience in a related discipline.
• Experience using technology in instruction and assessment.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Community college teaching experience.
• Experience with online and hybrid teaching and experiential learning.
• Experience with the Brightspace Learning Management System.
• Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population.

Conditions of Employment

• All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States; NECC does not provide employment-based visa sponsorship.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion and review of a background check, including CORI and SORI.

Pay

$1,512.00–$1,826.00 per credit, based on DCE step, per the DCE Contract; non-benefited position.

Schedule

• In-person evening instruction: Mondays 6:00–8:00 pm at the Lawrence campus on the dates listed above.
• Daytime availability required for on-site observations at local early education settings (days and times vary).
• Anticipated start date: September 1, 2026.
