Adjunct Faculty, Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Major Responsibilities

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Works with students to remove barriers to retention and completion of the program.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

Retention and Student Success

• Provides academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff.
• Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provides necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources.
• Maintains posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2).
• Promotes and assists in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means.

Qualifications

• Must hold a BS degree to be a course instructor per Ivy Tech policy.
• Must be ARDMS, CCI, or ARRT (S) registered.
• Must be able to teach scheduled courses on campus or via zoom during the hours that students are in class, which is weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm. Days and times could vary based on availability.
• Must be an Indiana resident per Ivy Tech policy.
