Adjunct Faculty - Department of World Languages
About the role
The Department of World Languages in the Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences at Rowan University is seeking applicants for a general talent pool in American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. Positions will be filled as they become available.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the listed languages at the undergraduate level.
- Develop and maintain course materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of language teaching methodologies and trends.
- Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
- Maintain regular office hours.
Requirements
- Earned a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the target language or allied fields (such as an MA in language, literature, or culture, an MA in applied linguistics/language pedagogy, or an MST or MEd with a specialization in the target language).
- Experience teaching the target language at the college level.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and the target language.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the target language or allied fields.
- Two years of teaching experience at the college level.
- Strong communication skills in both English and the target language.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to teach a variety of courses in the target language.
- Knowledge of language teaching methodologies and trends.
Pay
A minimum of $2,225 per credit for all courses taught, with a maximum teaching load of 8 credits per semester and 12 credits in an academic year.
Schedule
Courses will be assigned to instructors by College & Department on an as-needed basis.
