Adjunct Faculty, Department of Communication Studies
Position Summary
Adjunct instructors are needed to teach a variety of communication studies courses across the academic year. Instructors may be hired to teach one course or multiple courses.
Essential Functions
- Teaching classes, primarily in a fully in-person modality
- Grading student work
- Meting with students during office hours and corresponding with students via e-mail
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Excellent teaching ability
Required Qualifications
- M.A. in communication studies or related field
- Experience teaching communication studies courses at the university level
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in communication studies
Work Schedule
While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar).

Course Rate
The course rate for this position is $5,160 for a 4-credit course.

About the Department
The Department of Communication Studies calls students to engage communication meaningfully, creatively, ethically, and with intellectual curiosity, in order to enhance their personal and public lives, as well as contribute to a sustainable common good. The department offers a BA and a minor in communication studies, and we are seeking adjunct instructors to expand our capacity to serve our programs.
