About the role

Ivy Tech Community College is a community-based technical college that emphasizes excellence in classroom instruction. Faculty members are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in various areas, including mastery of subject matter, teaching performance, evaluation of student learning, support of college policies and procedures, participation in college, division, and program activities, and contribution to the growth and enhancement of college mission and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field or discipline.
  • Evaluate and return student work to promote maximum learning.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Prepare, distribute, and submit syllabi and course outlines for all assigned sections.
  • Exercise stewardship of College facilities and materials.
  • Contribute to program and division curriculum development processes.
  • Attend program, divisional, and College meetings and events as feasible.

Requirements

  • Possess an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, human services, behavioral sciences, or related fields.
  • Possess professional certification in the field or two years of directly related work experience.
  • Complete academic preparation appropriate to the program.

Qualifications

A qualified faculty member in criminal justice must possess an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, social work, sociology, human services, behavioral sciences, or related fields, and must also possess professional certification in the field or two years of directly related work experience, or completed academic preparation appropriate to the program.

Skills

Effective communication skills, ability to modify instructional methods, and proficiency in using instructional technology are essential.
