About the role
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
Responsibilities
- Delivers assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional/clinical supervisor methods.
- Develops and/or maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
- Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
- Fulfills the role of an instructional facilitator, focusing on active classroom teaching strategies that engage students with their learning.
- Interacts with students and colleagues in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs, clinical settings and all learning environments.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
- Faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
- A qualified faculty member teaching the clinical portions of CNA Preparation must meet both of the following criteria: a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the State of Indiana, and at least one year of licensed nurse experience as a LPN or RN.
- Transcripts and/or relevant certifications/licenses required at time of hire.
- Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background check.
- Long-term care experience as a CNA/Nurse preferred.
