About the role
The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Washington Adventist University is seeking candidates to expand its pool of adjunct faculty teaching day and evening classes.
Responsibilities
- Teach lectures and laboratories for majors and non-majors chemistry courses.
- Teach pertinent course content using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery that promote educational and learning processes.
- Prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, and engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of courses.
- Engage and assist students by providing notes, timely grades, and feedback via a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Supervise and maintain laboratories and equipment.
- Supervise lab safety during laboratory sessions, preparation, and clean-up.
Requirements
- Masters or PhD degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Academic coursework in organic chemistry, biochemistry, or inorganic chemistry is preferred.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
- Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population of students both in and outside the classroom.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Prior college or university laboratory teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, the university’s philosophy and mission.
Qualifications
Applicants submitting applications are applying for a non-tenure, part-time position but with significant input in course design. This appointment may be renewed upon satisfactory review and need.
