Adjunct Faculty-CAS (Vocal Performance)

About the role

The University of Pikeville (UPIKE) is seeking adjunct faculty for the Humanities division in the College of Arts and Sciences, specifically for vocal performance. The adjunct professor is expected to teach in the vocal performance program.

Responsibilities

• Teach group performance classes (beginner and intermediate), individual lessons, and/or ensembles. The typical time commitment is between 2.5 and 8 hours of classroom time per week.
• Utilize UPIKE's learning management system to upload course materials, communicate with students, and enter assessment feedback and grades, adhering to all related deadlines and policies.
• Maintain office hours for mentoring and coaching students.
• Contribute to success and retention activities.
• Engage in regular and responsive communication with the program and division leadership.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences.

Requirements

• Master's degree or above in Vocal Performance, Music Education, or related concentration.
• Minimum of eighteen graduate hours in the required teaching discipline.
• Excellent organizational, communication, teaching, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with intersectional, inclusive instruction and a demonstrated ability to incorporate diverse perspectives into teaching and student engagement (candidates with this experience are encouraged to identify it in application materials).
• Experience and sensitivity working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work and learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

Position Details

Positions are available in the fall and spring semesters. Review of applications occur as needed within each division of the College.
